Treatment for Males With Eating Disorders:

The CEDAR Associates of Westchester and Rockland Counties, New York, has launched an Eating Disorder Treatment program exclusively for male adolescents, over the age of 12, and adult men. Of those suffering with Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa (including Exercise Bulimia) at least 10% are male. Often under-diagnosed or hidden, eating disorders among males remain untreated. Sports programs often ignore symptoms or see symptoms as part of "training." In general, male sufferers are often more reluctant to seek help. Our program for males is conducted by licensed mental health practitioners who specialize in the UNIQUE treatment of Eating Disorders. Both male and female therapists are on staff, and nutritional care, which is conducted by eating disorder nutritionists with additional training in sports nutrition, is also available.  

Treatment will be offered for males with:

• Anorexia Nervosa                                               
• Bulimia Nervosa
• Exercise Bulimia                                                
• Binge Eating Disorder
• Body Image Issues (Body Dysmorphic Disorder)           

Compulsive Eating Groups for males are being formed at all CEDAR Associates Centers. Patients already receiving psychological services are welcome to participate in CEDAR groups and/or nutritional services. Anyone interested, should call 914-244-1904.
